KING OYSTER MUSHROOMS (PLEUROTUS ERYNGII)
King oyster mushrooms, also known as king trumpet mushrooms or French horn mushrooms, are large edible mushrooms in the oyster mushroom family. They are native to the Mediterranean regions of Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, but are also cultivated widely. King oysters are popular ingredients in Korean, Chinese, and Japanese cuisines. Their dense, chewy texture and rich umami flavor also makes them a popular substitute for meat and seafood.
HEALTH BENEFITS
In addition to their culinary uses, king oyster mushrooms have many health benefits. These include:
● Nutrient-Rich: King oyster mushrooms are a good source of essential nutrients, including B-vitamins (such as B5 and B3), dietary fiber, and minerals like selenium, potassium, phosphorus, and iron.[1]

HEALTH RISKS
Generally, king oyster mushrooms are well-tolerated, but they can cause adverse reactions in some individuals. Allergic reactions may occur, presenting as respiratory difficulties, skin rashes, or digestive issues, particularly in those sensitive to molds or fungi. Additionally, gastrointestinal discomfort such as bloating, gas, or diarrhea may occur, especially in those not accustomed to eating these mushrooms or who consume them in large quantities.
SUMMARY
King oyster mushrooms are not only tasty but also have many health benefits. They are low in calories and high in essential nutrients, including protein, fiber, B vitamins B, iron, selenium, and potassium.
